The present ivention provides nucleic acid vectors, viruses, and recombinant , cells comprising triple-stranded structures such as those resulting from , central initiation and termination of HIV-1 reverse transcription at the center of HIV-1 linear DNA genomes. These triplex structures can act as a cisdeterminant of HIV-1 DNA nuclear import allowing infection of non-dividing , target cells. In one aspect the presence of the DNA triplex sequence in an HIV vector strongly stimulates gene transfer in hematopoietic stem cells. The invention also provides methods of using these triplex structures for making recombinant cells, as well as methods of using the recombinant cells to express …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 10, 2000 and granted June 26, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 10, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 10, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
