PPAR.delta. was identified as a target of APC suppression through the analysis of global gene expression profiles in, human colorectal cancer cells. PPAR.delta. expression is elevated in primary colorectal cancers and significantly repressed by APC in colorectal cancer cells. This repression is mediated by two Tcf-4-responsive elements in the PPAR.delta. promotor. Reporters containing PPAR.delta.-responsive elements are repressed by sulindac a non-steroidal , anti-inflammatory (NSAID) agent which can reduce the size and number of colon tumors in humans and animals with APC mutations. Furthermore, sulindac is able to specifically disrupt the ability of PPAR.delta. to bind its cognate …

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 16, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended August 16, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 16, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
