The invention provides new homogeneous assays for the determination of the amount of LDL-C, of HDL-C, and of total cholesterol present in a sample. The method comprises complexing a first lipoprotein fraction with a complexforming agent, such as an antibody, using enzymes to detect cholesterol in the non-complexed lipoprotein fraction, measuring the amount of cholesterol in the non-complexed fraction to provide a first cholesterol value and then , dissociating the complexed lipoprotein fraction from the complex-forming agent so that that cholesterol is available to be a substrate for the enzymes. The total amount of cholesterol present in the sample can then be determined. Further, …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 26, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 26, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 26, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
