The present invention is directed to a method of sequencing a target nucleic acid molecule having a plurality of bases. In its principle the temporal , order of base additions during the polymerization reaction is measured on a molecule of nucleic acid, i.e. the activity of a nucleic acid polymerizing enzyme on the templage nucleic acid molecule to be sequenced is followed in real time. The sequence is deduced by identifying which base is being incorporated into the growing complementary strand of the target nucleic acid by the catalytic activity of the nucleic acid polymerizing enzyme at each step in the sequence of base additions. A polymerase on the target nucleic acid molecule …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 18, 2000 and granted July 3, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 18, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 18, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
