A copolymerization process for copolymerising carbon monoxide and an olefin employs a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal for example palladium, and a , bidentate ligand having general formula R1R2M1—R—M2R3R4 where R represents a bridging group, M1 and R2 represent nitrogen arsenic, antimony , or, preferably phosphorus and R1, R2, R3 and R4 preferably represent phenyl groups each having an alkoxy substituent and a sulphonyl substituent -SO2-OH or a salt or ester derivative. Such catalysts afford good reaction rates and good recycling properties.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 4, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 4, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 4, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
