Abstract From the Canadian patent

An atomizer (10) which contains a perforated-pipe sparger (118) is used for atomizing a liquid stream. This atomizer can be utilized in a fluidized catalytic cracking process or in a coking process for atomizing an oil stream prior to contact with a fluidized catalyst.
