The invention relates to a forming station comprising a metering hopper. Free-, flowing materials in particular, particles or fibres are fed from said hopper to a spreading device which spreads a mat of material on to a forming belt. The invention is characterised in that a chute containing compartments (2 51) , is positioned vertically and longitudinally in the transport flow between the metering hopper (1) and the forming belt (4 53).
