Apparatus for reducing the total pressure of a compressible fluid fuel. The apparatus includes at least two closely spaced apart constant enthalpy expansion sections (10, 20), each section having at least one orifice (82 92-, 96, 112-116), the orifices in adjacent sections being noncoaxial. The pressure reduction lowers flow velocity when mixed with the air to below the flame speed to promote ignition and stable combustion.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 26, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 26, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 26, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
