Abstract From the Canadian patent

Disclosed is an aldol condensation process for the preparation of an .alpha..beta.-unsaturated ketone by reacting an aldehyde with a ketone with the use of a water-soluble basic catalyst in a tubular reactor. The process employs a two liquid phase reaction system comprising a continuous phase containing the catalyst and a dispersed phase containing at least one of the aldehyde and the ketone and is conducted at a load factor of the tubular reactor of at least 0.8. The .alpha..beta.-unsaturated ketone can be produced with a high selectivity and at a high space-time yield.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 8, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 8, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 8, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
