Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a current limiter for limiting the overcurrent in power generation systems and transmission systems to a given limit. Said current limiter consists of inductors and controllable electric valves, e.g. , thyristors. Two inductors are connected in series and are bridged by two valves that are connected in series. The valves have opposite forward directions. The common point of the valves and the common point of the inductors are linked by e.g. a controllable voltage source. Circles are produced by an inductor and a valve. A controllable voltage source can be connected in series in relation to the valve in the respective forward direction of the valve and in …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 27, 2000 and granted August 7, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 27, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 27, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
