Abstract From the Canadian patent

An industrially useful process for preparing safely and efficiently intermediates for optically active .beta.3 adrenergic receptor agonist from easily available raw materials, which comprises reducing a substituted acetylpyridine derivative represented by general formula (9) enantioselectively into an optically active hydroxyethylpyridine derivative represented by general formula (10) (wherein * represents an asymmetric carbon atom), and converting this derivative into an intermediate for optically active .beta.3 adrenergic receptor agonist e.g. an optically active , dihydroxyethylpyridine derivative represented by general formula (14) or an optically active oxirane derivative …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 16, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 16, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 16, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
