Abstract From the Canadian patent

A packet-data-capable mobile station registers its care of address with its home, agent in response to the mobile station being powered up. When the mobile station powers, up, it sends a message to its base station. The message can be an origination message with, packet-data service option or a registration message with a new parameter. Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 15, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 15, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 15, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
