Abstract From the Canadian patent

The making of substitute caller-ID telephone calls by service bureaus or agents on behalf of users is facilitated by permitting users and service bureaus hav-, ing the appropriate classes of service to provision a, centralized data base, such as an SCP with the requi-, site call management information independently of one another but which confirms the authority of the service bureau to act on behalf of a user before permitting such calls to be made.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 3, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 3, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 3, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
