The present invention discloses a device which forms a position sensor for , non-contact position measurement. The position sensor comprises a sensor magnet and a sensor body. The sensor body is then formed from a magnetoresistive material and is given a two or three dimensional geometrical shape to achieve a desired sensitivity function. Thus the desired sensitivity , function results from a variation in one or more of the sensor body dimensions. By forming the sensor body of magneto-resistive material into different geometrical shapes like a simple wedge a double wedge, a circular , tapered form or an arbitrary shape a desired sensitivity function is obtained.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 9, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 9, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 9, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
