An optical signal is coupled from a first end of a first optical fiber to a second end of, a second optical fiber over an optical path by bending both the first end of the first optical, fiber and the second end of the second optical fiber. By bending both the first end of the first, optical fiber and the second end of the second optical fiber the optical path , may be directed, from the first end to the second end and colinearity of the second optical fiber with the, optical path may be increased. By increasing colinearity losses that are , associated with, noncolinear coupling of an optical signal into a fiber may be reduced and preferably may be, eliminated.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 13, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended August 13, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 13, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
