Abstract From the Canadian patent

A low-attenuation guide wire (not numbered) for use in combination with a radiation device (not numbered) for intravascular ionizing radiation therapy. The distal region (14) of the guide wire (not numbered) is less attenuating to ionizing radiation than the proximal region (12) and may be disposed adjacent the radiation emitting portion of the radiation device without significantly compromising the emission of radiation. Thus the guide wire does not need to , be removed or retracted in order to effectively deliver ionizing radiation to the vascular target site.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 21, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 21, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 21, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
