The rear lights on the car reflect the thoughts of the drivers as he reacts to the car in front of him. He may want to pick up speed reduce speed or brake whenever necessary. The car following him reacts to, the lights accordingly thus preventing the possibility of running into the car in front and the same goes for, the car following him.
