This invention concerns the assembly of a cylinder head and a cylinder liner for a, large internal combustion engine in which a screwthread on a ring on the cylinder, head engages a screwthread in a rebate in the liner and a flange on the ring engages the end of the rebate with an interference fit and a resilient seal of heat, resistant material is fitted at one end of the interengaged screwthreads.
