Abstract From the Canadian patent

A wavelength tunable optolelectronic device. Two channel waveguides are provided in an optoelectronic structure made of a ferroelectric material. The wave-, guides are adjacent along at least a coupling region. A periodically poled structure, is provided in the coupling region and at least one of the waveguides is untouched, by this structure. An electric field is applied in the coupling region through both, waveguides, to enable coupling a light of a given wavelength between the two waveguides. The amplitude of the electric field may be selected to tune the coupling wavelength. A third waveguide or more having a coupling region in common with the second waveguide may also be added to …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 30, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 30, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
