A single polarizer projector with a color switch and a projection method thereof, wherein the mean luminance of the inputted video signal is calculated so that the transmittance of the color switch can be controlled by the mean luminance in such a fashion that the transmittance is set to a maximum (100%) while setting the same to a low level (50%), thereby preventing unnaturail blackening of relatively dark image for improving the contrast ratio.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 31, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 31, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 31, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
