A boom sprayer (10) having an inner boom section (11) and an extendable outer boom section (12) with a plurality of spray head valves (79) which are moved to an on or off position as the extendable boom section (12) extends and retracts relative to the inner boom section (11). The invention also relates to a method of spraying with a boom sprayer (10) and a mechanism for attaching the spray booms to a support vehicle (14).
