The invention concerns an improved method for treating a reaction medium derived from the direct oxidation of hydrocarbon into carboxylic acid using molecular oxygen or a gas containing same in liquid phase, in a solvent and in the presence of a catalyst dissolved in the reaction medium. The method is characterised in that it consists in: when the reaction composition medium allows it decantation into two liquid phases: a higher non-polar phase and a lower polar phase; distillation of said lower phase or as the case may be the whole reaction mixture for separating the distillate and the distillation tail comprising the acid formed the catalyst, the heavy compounds, at least part of the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 14, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 14, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 14, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
