A group multicasting network comprises a plurality of ring networks interconnected by a tree network. The rings which include multicast group, members are connected at the leaf nodes of the tree via bridge nodes. Ring nodes, perform a ring-based multicast protocol and the tree nodes perform a treebased, multicast protocol. The bridge nodes act as intermediaries between the ring networks and the tree network and as such perform both the ring-based , multicast protocol and the tree-based multicast protocol.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 19, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 19, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 19, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
