Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a concrete comprising organic fibres dispersed in a cement matrix. By combining a cement matrix with predetermined characteristics and organic fibres likewise with predetermined characteristics in particular the size of the particles the length and diameter of the fibres, by a synergistic effect between the matrix and the organic fibres the behaviour of the concrete is improved both with respect to the occurrence of minute cracks and the propagation of large cracks. The figure is a graph resulting from four-point bend tests for metal fibre concrete mixes and organic fibre concrete mixes.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 12, 1999 and granted July 23, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 12, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 12, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
