Abstract From the Canadian patent

A thin membrane resonator has a thin membrane that is applied to the radiating face of any broadly, tuned air-matched ultrasonic transducer. The membrane significantly improves the Sound Pressure, Level (SPL) of the transducer in the transmitter mode and sensitivity of the transducer in the, receiver mode. The membrane is turned to the operating frequency of the transducer by the thickness, of the membrane for a prescribed gap between the transducer face and the membrane. The, membrane also protects the radiating face of any broadly tuned air-matched ultrasonic transducer, from chemical vapours.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 18, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 18, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 18, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
