Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and an apparatus for remote monitoring of analog meters employ a Hough Transform on the edge points of the meter scale to obtain the centre of the scale (8 9, 10). The, graduation marks and the needle are detected from the intensity profile along various radii (11, 12 13). Thereby the, meter reading can be flexibly adopted to different meter scales during an easy training process. The method can be modified for oblique reading of the scale.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 15, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 15, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 15, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
