This invention concerns a wooden glue-laminated beam including boards assembled in strips, with a substantially smaller width than the width of the beam. The beam is characterised by the presence of wanes inside and by outer surfaces essentially composed of heartwood. Also divulged is a fabrication process for manufacturing the beam in this invention in which the strips are derived from boards. Sawing the boards into strips is programmed so that the strips thus obtained can make a beam having outer surfaces including essentially heartwood.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 26, 2001 and granted September 10, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 26, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 26, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
