Abstract From the Canadian patent

An audio recording medium, methods for recording data on and reproducing data from the audio recording medium and recording and reproducing apparatuses therefor are provided. In the audio recording medium audio data are recorded in a plurality of tracks in predetermined write units and identification data for indicating the start position of each of the tracks such as mute data, are recorded in write units segregated from the predetermined write units of the audio data. Thus if a mute period is unnecessary, the mute data can be easily removed.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 21, 2000 and granted April 19, 2011. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 21, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 21, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
