The invention relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical cremes in the form of a water in oil emulsion comprising an oil phase with an interfacial tension in relation to water of less than 30 mN/m at 25 ~C preferably less than 10 mN/m , and lipophilic emulsifiers with an HLB value of less than 6. Said cremes can be stabilized by non-densifying starches or derivatives of modified starches with a 1 wt. % solution or dispersion in water that has a viscosity of less than 10 mPas (whereby D = 10/s and at 25 ~C). As a result ionic and , hydrophilic non-ionic emulsifiers are not required at all.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 6, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 6, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 6, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
