Foamed polymer-fiber composites (100), building materials and methods of making such building materials are provided by this invention. The composites include about 35-75 wt.% of a poymeric resin about 25-65 wt.% fiber and have , a specific gravity of less than about 1.25 g/cc. The low density is provided by the introduction of a blowing agent or gas into a molten precursor of the composite during thermoforming, such as in an extrusion operation.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 1, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 1, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 1, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
