Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a method for reducing metal oxides in an oven with ring-shaped rotary heath wherein a carbon-containing reducer and metal oxides are deposited in a strip on part of said rotary hearth and then transported in a substantially spiralling movement towards an evacuation device. Said method is characterised in that the reducer is preheated and mixed with the preheated metal oxides before and/or while they are deposited on the rotary hearth and in a first reduction phase the carbon-containing reducer volatile constituents (mainly methane and hydrogen) are used to start reducing the metal oxides and in a second reducing phase carbon monoxide is used.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 23, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 23, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 23, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
