The invention concerns a method for managing protection resources enabling to assign protection resources to active resources comprising the setting up of an information model of resources. The invention is characterised in that said information model comprises: at least a group protecting an active resource (RA) defining a dependable resource (RF1) and at least a selection group (GS1) connected to a protection resource said selection group being designed to be connected to the protection group or to a non-dependable resource. The invention is applicable to telecommunication networks.
