Abstract From the Canadian patent

An intracavity doubled single longitudinal mode laser is disclosed which provides stable (i.e. low amplitude variation in its output beam intensity) efficient operation. An associated method is also disclosed. A lasant material (36) is positioned in the cavity for producing light at a desired fundamental wavelength and possibly other, unwanted wavelengths. Polarizing means (38) and a type I doubling material (36) are also positioned in the cavity. During operation of the laser, the polarizing means polarizes the desired fundamental wavelength as well as the unwanted wavelengths of light produced by the lasant material. The type I doubling material then produces output wavelengths at …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 10, 1998 and granted July 23, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 10, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 10, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
