Abstract From the Canadian patent

Substrates for immobilizing DNA, etc. to give DNA libraries etc.; and chips , appropriately usable in amplifying DNA etc. by PCR amplification. The PCR , amplification is effected by using highly conductive solid substrates for immobilizing DNA. These substrates are surface-modified with chemicals having polar groups at the terminals. Use of the DNA-immobilized chips having DNA immobilized on these substrates makes it possible to amplify DNA within a short time in the PCR method.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 8, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 8, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 8, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
