The invention concerns a method for determining position using GPS satellites of the NAVSTAR system. More specifically it concerns reception processing of a GPS satellite L2 signal modulated by an encrypted code Y whereof the key is unknown enabling to estimate its delay relative to the L1 signal and deduce therefrom the extent of ionospheric refraction so as to take it into account and improve the accuracy of location. Said processing consists in bringing the L2 signal in lower band and despreading it using a non-encrypted P-code locally generated in reception by a local generator of non-encrypted spread P-code synchronised on the transmitted Y-code (encrypted P-code) using a phase locking …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 24, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 24, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 24, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
