Abstract From the Canadian patent

A safety system for a building has an excess gas flow detector circuit for detecting gas flow in a gas supply pipe. The safety system can also include an earthquake detector for detecting ground accelerations exceeding a threshold acceleration/frequency curve dividing safe and hazardous ground accelerations throughout a predetermined frequency range. The earthquake detector includes an accelerometer for measuring linear acceleration along an axis and, for generating an acceleration signal indicative of a magnitude of the measured acceleration. A filter circuit produces a filtered acceleration signal from the acceleration signal. The gain/frequency characteristic of the filter circuit is a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 19, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 19, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 19, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
