Polymers of a conjugated dime, an unsaturated nitrile and a vinyl aromatic compound are selectively hydrogenated to reduce ethylenic carbon-carbon double bonds without also reducing nitrile groups and aromatic carbon-carbon double bonds, preferably using a rhodium-containing compound as catalyst. The hydrogenated polymers are novel and display valuable properties.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 12, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 12, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 12, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
