Abstract From the Canadian patent

Novel protease variants derived from the DNA sequences of naturally-occurring or recombinant non-human proteases are disclosed. The variant proteases in , general, are obtained by in vitro modification of a precursor DNA sequence encoding the naturally-occurring or recombinant protease to generate the substitution of a plurality of amino acid residues in the amino acid sequence of a precursor protease. Such variant proteases have properties which are different from those of the precursor protease such as altered wash , performance. The substituted amino acid residue corresponds to position 103 in combination with one or more of the following substitutions at residue positions …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 1998 and granted January 3, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 23, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
