When the encapsulated anesthetic is administered as a single intracutaneous dose the duration of anesthesia and , half-life of the drug at the local injection site is increased as compared to injection of unencapsulated anesthetic. The maximum tolerated dose of the encapsulated anesthetic is also markedly increased in the liposomal formulation over injection of unencapsulated anesthetic. Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 18, 1998 and granted September 9, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 18, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 18, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
