Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a method whereby the digital speech signal (s) processed by successive frames is subjected to noise suppression taking into account noise estimations included in the signal updated for each frame based on at least one degree of speech activity (.gamma.¿n,i?). The method consists in carrying out an a priori noise suppression of each frame speech signal on the basis of the noise estimations obtained while processing at least one previous frame and analysing the energy variations of the signal which has been subjected to an a priori noise suppression to detect the degree of speech activity of said frame.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 16, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 16, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 16, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
