Abstract From the Canadian patent

A coupling for a high pressure fluid pump assembly is shown and described. The plunger (14) has a rounded convex engagement surface. A second engagement portion of the extension rod (28) has a substantially flat second engagement surface engaging the first engagement surface of the plunger (14). The interface between the first and second engagement surfaces aligns motion of the plunger along the first axis with motion of the extension rod along the second axis, reducing their tendency to bend and to move laterally relative to their respective longitudinal axis.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 17, 1998 and granted December 17, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 17, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 17, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
