Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns the production of vinyl esters from butene oligomers, wherein the butene is oligomerized the, butene oligomers are separated from the oligomers the butene, oligomers are converted to carboxylic acids that are longer by one carbon atom and that the carboxylic acids thus obtained are converted to the corresponding vinyl esters. Butene oligomers are, in particular, di-, tri- and tetrabutenes. Furthermore the invention concerns the use of the vinyl esters as softening agents or as comonomers in polymerization reactions.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 25, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 25, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 25, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
