An optical device includes a waveguiding configuration (21) and an electrical capacitive configuration wherein the capacitive configuration comprises glass electrode region(s) (13) and glass dielectric region(s) (14) with electrical leads (19, 20) e.g. metallic conductors for applying electrical control , signals to the electrode region(s) (13). The preferred metals for the conductors are Ni, Ti and Au. The waveguiding structural (21) is configured so that the fields associated with optical signals propagating therein interact with region(s) (13). During the use of the device control signals are applied to the region(s) (13) by means of the electrical leads (19 20). The control , …

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 8, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 8, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 8, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
