The invention relates to an electronically commutated motor having a stator carrying a plurality of winding strands and a rotor in which the individual winding strands are controlled via power amplifiers in staggered periods of time the periods, being subdivided into control time and idle time. In order to reduce the power loss in the power amplifiers and consequently to increase the efficiency specifically in the range of high currents, the invention provides that the control times are subdivided into an initial time segment and a final time segment-and that at low motor currents pulsing occurs only in the initial or final time segments in pulse width modulation while at high currents …

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 8, 1998 and granted December 2, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 8, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 8, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
