A method and an apparatus for coding a moving image capable of, obtaining high image quality and high rate of data compression are provided. A recording medium for recording a program of such coding is also provided. The method according to the invention comprises the steps of comparing current-image pixel block B to be coded and preceding-image pixel block within a predetermined region R of the preceding frame seeking a specific, preceding-image pixel block F minimizing matching error between pixel block B and pixel block F, and, if the matching error exceeds an acceptable value obtaining one or more orthogonal base systems for approximating AC component vector in current-image pixel block …

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 17, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 17, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 17, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
