Abstract From the Canadian patent

The setting of the queue thresholds in active queue management schemes such as RED (random early detection) is problematic because the required buffer size for, good sharing among TCP connections is dependent on the number of TCP connection using the buffer. Techniques for enhancing the effectiveness of such, buffer management schemes are described. The techniques dynamically change the threshold settings as the system load e.g. the number of connections, changes. The invention uses variables that correlate well with system load. The variables, should reflect the congestion notification rate since this rate is closely related to the, TCP congestion window size which in turn is closely …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 6, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 6, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 6, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
