Abstract From the Canadian patent

An OADM filter is integrated into the optics package of optical receivers and transmitters of a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network. As the transmitter and the receiver already use collimated optics, eliminating several lenses and fiber attachments with their associate alignment, as well as the physical enclosure importantly, reduces the price of the transceiver-ADM filter combination in comparison with the cost for a separate transceiver and ADM filter. Furthermore the, arrangement allows for a more flexible network growth.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 10, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 10, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 10, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
