Method and device for cleaning the bottoms of shoes and the wheels of shopping trolleys, wheelchairs, pushchairs and similar devices used frequently in the entrance areas to public buildings such as shopping areas or administrative and commercial buildings with assistance. A continuous cleaning mat (10) runs around between at least two deviating rollers (60 70).
