An automated process for folding and unfolding a lift truck fork in response to movement of a carriage relative to a supporting mast. The lift truck fork (38) is pivotally supported on the carriage (28) such that the fork (38) extends perpendicularly from the carriage (28). When the carriage (28) is at the bottom of the mast (14), a latch (62) may be selectively caused to engage the fork (38). Raising of the carriage (28) causes the fork (38) to pivot to lie parallel to the carriage (28). Why it's free to use
- Filed April 30, 1998 and granted December 24, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 30, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 30, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
