Absorbent members useful in the containment of body fluids such as urine that , have at least one region containing hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer in a concentration of from about 50 to 100 % by weight and providing a gelcontinuous fluid transportation zone when in a swollen state. This hydrogelforming absorbent polymer has: (a) a Dynamic Gelling Rate of at least about 0.18 g/g/sec; (b) a Performance under Pressure (PUP) capacity value of at least about 25 g/g under a confining pressure of 0.7 psi (5 kPa); and (c) when the hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer is in the form of particles a mass , median particle size of at least about 100 µm.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 9, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 9, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 9, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
